System Integration of Motor, Battery, and Vehicle Control Unit is the focus of lightweighting

System integration of motor, battery, and vehicle control unit is an important direction to achieve the light weight of the vehicle. Power battery, drive motor and vehicle control unit are the core components of new energy vehicles, collectively known as the three electric systems, which are the key parts to determine the performance of the vehicle.

Consumers are most concerned about energy consumption, range and safety when buying and using new energy vehicles, and these three important issues are closely related to the vehicle's three electric systems. The power battery is the source of "energy" for new energy vehicles, while the drive motor and vehicle control unit, as an alternative to the traditional engine function, directly determine the performance of electric vehicles, such as hill climbing, acceleration, maximum speed and other key performance indicators.

From the composition of new energy vehicle manufacturing costs, the three electric systems account for about 50% of the cost of the vehicle. Among them, the power battery is the most core component of the three electric systems, solving the core concerns of new energy vehicle range, service life, driving safety, etc., accounting for about 38% of the cost of new energy vehicles. In addition, the drive motor and vehicle control unit each account for about 6.5% and 5.5%.

Compared with traditional cars, the three electric systems of new energy vehicles will lead to an increase in the weight of the whole vehicle, thus affecting the range. For the same model, the triboelectric system will lead to an additional 200kg-300kg of weight for the whole vehicle; meanwhile, the lightweight factor of new energy vehicles is 1.5-4 times higher than that of traditional fuel vehicles, which means that the lightweight of new energy vehicles is lower. System integration of motor, battery, and vehicle control unit usually account for 30%-40% of the weight of a new energy vehicle, and their lightweighting is the key to achieving a lighter new energy vehicle and improving its range.
